- Abstract
The article presents the text of the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, adopted at the 19th Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers in Cairo, Egypt on August 5, 1990. The declaration consists of a preamble and 25 articles. Article topics include the unity of all human beings in subordination to Allah and in their common lineage from Adam; the universal right of all people to protection from being killed or harmed unless it has been prescribed by Shari'ah; and the prohibition against killing non-belligerents such as old men, women, and children during times of war.
