- Abstract
The article focuses on courageous resistance by internally displaced persons (IDP) in villages of Karen State of Burma to military abuse. Many displaced villagers in Karen State live under State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) rule. Villagers have strengthened their own strategies to claim their rights. Villagers use advanced warning systems to relay messages between communities and learn of the impending arrival of troops and thereby gather belongings and head into the forest before the actual arrival of soldiers.
