Abstract
The article discusses the proposal of the Care Quality Commission in England to use hidden surveillance such as mystery shoppers and cameras to check on services extended to the elderly and mentally ill people and to promote safety and quality. Also discussed in the article are concerns raised within the sector such as privacy and dignity issues, and the negative impact on staff.
