The article discusses the linguistic-cultural hybridity of the postcolonial cinematic output from India in relation to the motion picture Kanchenjungha, directed by Satyajit Ray. A definition of the term hybridity is given. Kanchenjungha mainly focuses on the spoken idiom of the Indian middle class in decolonized India.
