- Title
Engine oils and low-speed pre-ignition.
- Authors
Whitby, David
- Abstract
in this article, the author discusses engine oils and pursuit of better fuel economy by vehicle makers. It states that downsized engines with gasoline direct injection (GDI) and turbochargers are used to help improve vehicles' fuel efficiencies and reduce emissions by car makers. It mentions that problems in using low viscosity engine oils is low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) that can limit a car potential of turbocharged engines to meet increasing fuel efficiency.
