- Abstract
The article explores economist Gordon Tullock’s writings on the political economy of redistribution and connects it with contemporary debates over inequality. Topics discussed include Tullock's argument that government efforts to redistribute income are generally implemented because of the efforts by special interests; opinion that these programs usually fail to help the people they purport to help; and argument that redistribution schemes generally benefit the middle class.
