- Title
Pretty in Pink for the Ladies and Light Blue for the Intellectuals: The Book Jacket as a Statement Accessory.
- Authors
Myrup Munk, Anne
- Abstract
The article examines the story behind the release of two cover colors for the first- and second-edition printing of the novel, "Ladies," by Swedish author Mara Lee. It notes that the pink-colored first edition in 2007 was perceived as a statement to trivialize women's literature as intellectual chick lit. It cites that negative reaction prompted publication firm Rosinante to release a second edition pale blue cover in 2008 with the book labelled as intellectual contemporary literature.
