- Title
Unrestricted prescription of dabigatran: Is it safe in a resource-limited setting.
- Authors
Ghosh, Supradip
- Abstract
The article focuses on the Randomized Evaluation of Long-Term Anticoagulation Therapy (RE-LY) trial on dabigatran drug. It states that the trial is unlikely to extrapolate and use in an underweight patient like the case of a 71-year-old underweight male who suffered hemorrhagic shock following lower gastrointestinal bleeding. The trial reveals the association of dabigatran to the significant increase in the rate of myocardial infarction (MI).
