In article the author talks about the contribution of Henry David Thoreau for Lyceum movement, a series of organizations which sponsored a variety of public education programs and entertainments. Topics include engagement with the Concord Lyceum in Massachusetts and other states; and movement was launched by Josiah Holbrook that demanded the inclusion of the advancement of popular education and the diffusion of useful information throughout the community.
