- Abstract
This article analyzes the short stories "Dark in the Forest, Strange as Time" and "I Have a Thing to Tell You" both by Thomas Wolfe. Both the stories depict Wolfe's interest in Germany when he realized the evil of Nazism and include a German Jew as the focal character who meets his fate in Germany. The role of the Nazis in modernism was deeply portrayed in both novels. The use of symbolism and mystery in the stories, and the prophetic quality of the narrative are also mentioned.
