In this article, the author presents his views on cynicism and academic citizenship citing reference to the daughter of philosopher Aristotle. She discusses the cynicism of Aristotle's daughter toward the lyceum of her father. She mentions that citizenship depends upon exclusion. She also mentions that academics try to address inequality through a mixture of hopeful measures, rationalization, and guilty unease.
