MEASURE FOR MEASURE: FURTHER CONTEMPORARY NOTES.
- Authors

- Abstract
This article presents information about the play "Measure for Measure." J.W. Lever has shown several references to contemporary events in London, England in 1604, as arguments for the play "Measure for Measure" being written in that year. As the play was performed at Court on December 26, 1604, ambiguity in its location might be useful, for King James himself and members of his court figured in the events to which allusion was made. A revival of Catholicism occurred in England from about 1570. Young men from Catholic families went overseas to train for the priesthood, often returning as missionary priests.
