- Abstract
This article examines a promising technology for the direct alloying of steel that reduces the amounts of energy and materials used in the process. The scientific principles behind the direct alloying of steel by oxide-based materials are explained, and a method is devised for calculating the composition of oxide mixtures with a low melting point. Compositions of such mixtures are found for the manganese-and chromium-alloying of steel with the use of common oxide-based raw materials. Recommendations are given for preparing oxide mixtures for direct alloying.
