- Abstract
The article discusses the limitations of subjective human interpretation in standardized imaging reporting and data systems, such as VI-RADS for bladder cancer. The authors propose the use of quantitative imaging biomarkers, specifically diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI), to improve the accuracy of diagnosing muscle invasion in bladder cancer. They conducted a retrospective study on 68 bladder cancer patients and found that combining the VI-RADS score with the mean kurtosis ratio (MKratio) improved the accuracy of identifying muscle invasion. The study demonstrates the potential clinical utility of quantitative imaging biomarkers in improving diagnostic performance and patient outcomes.
