- Abstract
Teachers have a significant influence on the lives of their students and their academic development, which can be a positive or negative influence. From this perspective, this article seeks to investigate the influence of teachers on the lives of their students and their development. To do this, a questionnaire with two open questions was applied to ten people who had already attended Basic Education, random people, of different ages, genders, social classes and professions. The responses were analyzed according to Bardin's content analysis. This research is characterized as a case study, with a qualitative approach. After analyzing the participants' statements, four categories emerged for question number 1, namely: motivation; continuity in studies; inspiration to be a teacher; encouraging reading. Three categories also emerged for question number 2, namely: inefficient methods; inflexibility; lack of ethics and respect. In question number 1, the participants highlighted some words, attitudes and gestures of their teachers that marked them in a positive way, in the same way, in question number 2, the research subjects highlighted some speeches and actions of their teachers, which had a negative impact on their lives.
