- Abstract
The article discusses the project of Kaiser Permanente (KP) Health Plan Inc. in replacing its hospitals in California due to its increased membership and new seismic regulations. The design forms a template for the full design of 13 hospitals and central utility plants in California. The reduction of energy consumption requires less electricity and natural gas, reducing carbon emissions, while the specification for the modern building services equipment eliminated chlorofluorocarbons.
