- Abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the difference of biochemical and hematological parameters between the age groups of Lanyu pigs in the cool and hot season. A total of 40 Lanyu pigs were studied, namely 20 units in the cool season and 20 units in the hot season. Blood for analyses was taken at 3 and 6 months of age. Assessment of various hematology and serum biochemistry parameters, triiodothyronine (T3), immunoglobulin G (IgG), cortisol, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CRE), total protein (TP) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) show a significant difference at 3 months of age (P < 0.05) between seasons. At 6 months of age, There were significant effects of the T3, IgG, cortisol, hemoglobin (Hb), MCHC, glucose (GLU), CRE, total cholesterol (CHO), TP, serum albumin (ALB), albumin/globulin ratio (A/G) and γ-Glutamyl transferase (γ-GT) (P < 0.05). In summary, six serum hematological and biochemical parameters T3, IgG, cortisol, MCHC, CRE, and TP for 3 and 6 months of age exhibited the same significant variation between seasons (P < 0.05).
