- Abstract
The article discusses the educational opportunities afforded to incarcerated youths with disabilities in the U.S. as of April 2013, focusing on the nation's Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and its impact on juvenile deliquents and inmates in juvenile correctional facilities in America. The success rates of parolees who earn their high school diplomas or general educational development diplomas (GEDs) prior to release are addressed. Poverty among U.S. workers is examined, along with the California case Farrell v. Tilton.
