- Abstract
The article presents observations on some gammarus and marinogammarus species on the Scandinavian west coast. G. Locusta to avoid exposed localities open to waves and swell. Nine out of the thirty-three female specimens that were collected had eggs in brood pouch. Propagation is consequently going also in the winter. The occurrence of the species in brackish water is of very great interest. In the collected samples from the Fucus belt G. locusta has often been accompanied by Araphithoe rubricota, Calliopius rathkei and Parajassa pelagica. In Ruppia, Zannichellia and Enterornorpha these species become less common. G. zaddachi oceanicus has proved to have the widest ecological range of the three subspecies with a wide distribution also in purely marine arctic anti boreal waters which furthermore may be gathered from a distribution map. In Gullmar Fiord and Oslo Fiord G. z. oceanicus seems to differ from G. Locusta in its biotopic demands by mainly occurring along stones at the actual waterline.
