- Title
Greening leases.
- Authors
Fredericks, James A.; Marischen, Alison S.
- Abstract
The article offers suggestions on how property owners and managers can integrate sustainability into their leasing practice and how they can encourage their tenants to follow their initiatives. The authors propose that in case a tenant opposes the owners commitment to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, he or she must reevaluate the tenant's termination of lease or consider judicial rights. In addition, the authors believes that managers and tenants alike must give careful considerations on how sustainability development could impact their legal relationship and obligations.
