- Abstract
A 40-year-old woman complaining of a slight headache underwent physical and neurological examination at Fujieda Heisei Memorial Hospital in 1999, which revealed impaired consciousness (Japan Coma Scale 2 points) and acalculia, and disorientation in her left hand. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed an extra-axial, parasagittal and bilateral tumor, 5 cm in diameter on the left side and 2 cm on the right, located in the occipital region (Fig. 1). The lesion was low-intense on T[sub 1] and slightly hyperintense on T[sub 2]-weighted images, with homogeneous contrast enhancement. Intra-tumoral cyst and perifocal edema were evident. No tumor stain was noted on angiography. On craniotomy the tumor was elastic hard, attached to the falx and well demarcated from the brain.
