- Abstract
This article alerts against the false negative patch tests, that can be obtained by patch testing with an allergenic plant unless a portion of the plant, which contains allergenic material is selected for the tests. Generally Black resinous deposits are used as one criterion for field identification and confirmation of the toxic nature of the plant related to poison, which may show negative results. It suggests that the presence of the poisonous sap is easy for susceptible persons to detect in the field but not so detectable from herbarium specimens. So when specimens lack data, regarding the toxicity of the plant, one must look elsewhere for the suggestions.
