- Abstract
N-methylol-chloracetamid is a formaldehyde-releasing preservative used for coolant oils in the engineering industry. Dermatitis is caused sensitization. Sensitization to preservatives in coolant oils is hardly rare but probably most often over-looked, since patch tests with nonirritant dilutions of the coolant oils can give false negative reactions. Usually, the preservatives are not available or not identified. The present study indicates that Parmetol K 50 is a strong sensitizer. Probably this capacity could have been revealed by maximization tests on very few guinea pigs.
