- Abstract
Objective: Reflect on the ritual of mourning and cult of dead during funeral in the context of COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This is a study of reflection on the grieving process in the context of COVID-19 pandemic. Results: The COVID-19 pandemic directly affected the grieving process, culture and rituals involved in funerals, limiting or preventing farewell and commonly adopted rituals, which can cause negative feelings and potentiate pain and suffering during pandemic, interfering in mental health of the bereaved subjects. Conclusion: The importance of care strategies with bereaved families is highlighted, according to unique need of each one, especially regarding psychological demands.
