- Abstract
The article examines the consequences of recontextualizing poems within a commercial frame of reference based on Hudson's Bay Company's (HBC) use of works by Canadian poets such as Louis Dudek in the journals "Quarry," "Tamarack," and "Canadian Literature." Topics discussed include the relationship between art and commerce, HBC's advertising campaign as a divergence from its customary promotional practices, and the intersection of HBC's commercialism and growing spirit of cultural nationalism.
