- Abstract
The article explores challenges to estimating COVID-19-related mortality in India. Topics discussed include how many deaths occur outside of hospitals in India, which will not be reported or will incur a lag in reporting, deaths that may be classified under comorbid illnesses and deaths that are attributable to low access to quality health care. The impact that this insufficient data may have is also discussed, notably, how it relates to modelers' ability to predict the course of the pandemic.
