- Abstract
Working in a large company can represent greater opportunities for career growth, professional development, status and better salaries, depending on the people management practices and policies that are implemented, while working in a small business is often left as a second career option. However, despite the status of large institutions, some people have preferred to go out and work in small or medium-sized enterprises. In this article, based on interviews conducted with employees and / or entrepreneurs who have made this choice - nowadays exercising new activities and managing people - will analyze the factors that influenced the choice of smaller companies, the perceived differences in people management (in relation to different sizes of companies) and, especially, if these individuals seek to make a differentiated management of people. The main results of this change stand out: the perceived difficulty in managing people and the valorization, given the greater autonomy that workers acquire in the minors.
