- Abstract
The objective of the study was to systematize the knowledge produced about the relationship stress and police in Brazil between the years 2009 to 2013. It is an integrative literature review conducted in Medline and Lilacs from May 2014. Results indicate situations socially challenging the cops are exposed. As repressive crime agent lives daily with violence, is exposed to occupational hazards, which causes stress and other health problems. The physical and psychological suffering was identified in 87.5% of the analyzed manuscripts, especially irritability, fatigue and physical stress, muscle tension, problems with memory / insomnia, musculoskeletal pain, gastritis, trouble concentrating, impatience, bad mood, depression, fatigue and others. Studies indicate the consequences of stress in the police force and instigate the search for coping strategies to minimize suffering considering the importance of potential targets for the maintenance of public security.
