- Abstract
The presence of stilpnomelane and chloritoid in schists of the Arquía Complex in the western sector of Manizales, evidences a metamorphism of greenschist facies, low degree in intermediate pressure belts. The association of the metamorphic peak for muscovite quartz schist is chloritoid + muscovite + quartz + plagioclase + stilpnomelane and for actinolitic schist is actinolite + chlorite + epidote/clinozoisite + quartz ± plagioclase. The calculations in pseudosections allowed to determine the following conditions: T= 420±10°C and P= 5.5 to 6 kbar. The geochemical characteristics show that the protolith of the actinolitic schist corresponds to MORB-type basalts and the graphite schist were pelitic rocks associated with an active continental margin. It also presents an integration of this complex with the evolution of western Colombia.
