The essence of the work of the autodidact philosopher Ibn Tufail is briefy presented here, both to emphasize how it infuenced other thinkers in the way they edited their manuscripts —particularly how Baltasar Gracian edited his El Criticon— and to highlight his infuence on later philosophical thought.
