- Abstract
The article discusses the methodology of studying ancient economic history since its inception as an academic discipline at the end of the 19th century. The study of economics is also examined in regard to its contribution to the study of other aspects of ancient Roman society, particularly the relationship between ancient Roman law and the economy. In concluding, the author asserts the academic value of interdisciplinary studies that focus on and compare ancient Roman law, economics, and society.
