- Title
Diet and the Bone Marrow Niche for Stem Cell Recruitment.
- Authors
Chen, Xiaowei; Anderson, John JB
- Abstract
The author discusses the study of young mice and extracted bone cells in vitro to elucidate the mechanism of action by which a specific polyphenol derivative of the blueberry hippuric acid (HA) operates on osteoblasts to improve bone mass. He looks at the synthesis of polyphenols by the plant cells from amino acid phenylalanine. He discusses the molecular classes of polyphenols produced by plants like Flavonoids, Lignans and Flavonals. He discusses the activation of a membrane G protein by HA.
