The article discusses the potential use of government regulations to ensure energy efficiency in the U.S. and the European Union (EU) as of November 2012, focusing on product standards, climate policies, and energy-pricing plans. Energy market failures and regulatory design are addressed, along with strategies for reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. Other topics include climate change, U.S. tax credits for purchases of efficient appliances, and minimum energy performance standards (MEPS).
