- Abstract
The article discusses elections and electoral practices in Great Britain and Germany during the interwar period in comparative perspective. The author emphasizes the symbolic and ritualistic aspects of voting. Topics addressed in detail include the role of political traditions for shaping political culture, electoral laws and voting procedures in the two countries, and the problem of corrupt practices in elections and the importance of secret ballots. Differences in the style of election campaigns are also considered.
