La Tierra de Plasencia en los primeros tiempos modernos: características y organización interna.
- Authors
García Barriga, Felicísimo
- Abstract
The comunidades de villa y tierra were crucial institutions in medieval Castile. In Extremadura, the Tierra of Plasencia was, without question, the most important of all of them; it appeared when the city was founded in the 12nd century and ocuppied all the north-eastern sector of the province of Caceres. The absence of studies about it during the Early Modern period is the origin of this article, where we analyse the relationships between the city and its territory during the 16th century and the institutions that the Tierra created to defend its interests, institutions which had a central role in the conflicts that appeared in the last years of that century.
