- Title
ATLANTIC TRI-ANGULATIONS: TEACHING THE EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY AMERICAS ACROSS IMPERIAL BOUNDARIES.
- Authors
Bauer, Ralph
- Abstract
The article discusses the challenges in the pedagogy of a circum-Atlantic and transnational approach to the eighteenth-century American literature. In both the Spanish and English disciplinary context, most anthologies of American literature present meta-narratives of national literary history. The Neo-classical formal conventions and the imperial orientation of 18th-century American literature are treated as a regrettable exception in the development of an autochthonous literary expression.
