- Title
Stratification for exploring heterogeneity in systematic reviews (Editorial).
- Authors
Bennett, Derrick A.; Emberson, Jonathan R.
- Abstract
The author discusses stratification as a method to identify heterogeneity in systematic reviews. He states that heterogeneity could be quantitative (or statistical) and qualitative (or clinical). Through the method of stratification, studies can be divided into subgroups that share methodological characteristics or clinical characteristics in order to compare the estimates of the pooled weighted average in each group. He also offers information on other methods of exploring heterogeneity.
