- Abstract
The article discusses the motivation of reluctant middle school writers, students who wants to avoid writing, in the U.S. through publication. It discusses the growing importance of writing instruction since the introduction of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and the impact of an authentic audience, which extends beyond the teacher-student relationship. It also discusses the three methods of publishing student work, and the applications of publication activities for these writers.
