- Title
Simple Rapid Near-Patient Diagnostics for Tuberculosis Remain Elusive-Is a "Treat-to-Test" Strategy More Realistic?
- Authors

- Abstract
The authors deal with the use of a treat-to-test diagnostic strategy in tuberculosis (TB) infection, which is based on immunological assays. They assumes that a group of patients undergoing TB treatment would manifest an immunological response to the burst of mycobacterial antigens that are released when treatment starts. While effective in some cases, the strategy should not be used in patients with multi-drug-resistant (MDR) or monoresistant TB strains, the authors add.
