The article discusses the legality of regulating private militia groups as a strategy to promote public safety in the U.S. Other topics include the origin of militia groups, the Second Amendment jurisprudence on the rights of private militias, why the regulation of said groups are constitutional, and the Supreme Court ruling in the 2008 case District of Columbia v. Heller affirming the Second Amendment's protection of individual right to possess firearms for lawful purposes.
