- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses a new species of rattan plant called Plectocomiopsis hantu, which has unique characteristics that distinguish it from other palm species. The plant has remained undescribed for many years due to a lack of reproductive material. The article provides a detailed description of the plant's appearance and habitat, as well as its potential relationships to other genera within the Plectocomiinae subtribe. However, more research and analysis are necessary to determine its precise classification and generic identity. The article acknowledges the need for additional data and deeper investigations before drawing any definitive conclusions. Additionally, the article by W.J. Baker explores the placement of two palm genera, Plectocomia and Myrialepis, within the larger group of calamoid palms. The author suggests that based on available morphological evidence, the most conservative placement for these genera is within the genus Plectocomiopsis. However, current phylogenomic inferences are inconclusive, and further research is required to establish their exact placement. The article offers a comprehensive analysis of the subject and can serve as a valuable resource for researchers studying calamoid palms.
