- Abstract
The article discusses the advancements and challenges in 3D additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, specifically focusing on the nanometer scale. The research cluster 3D Matter Made to Order (3DMM2O) is actively studying the development of technologies for shaping 3D matter on demand at this scale. The article provides a snapshot of ongoing research in 3DMM2O, covering topics such as digital data management, functional material systems, molecular materials, advanced materials characterization, self-assembly, and applications in engineering and life sciences. The authors hope that this Special Issue will inspire further progress in the field of Functional Materials.
