- Abstract
The article presents the analysis of the impact of Kaunas HPP (Hydro Power Plant) Reservoir on the thermal regime of the Nemunas River tailwater. Characteristics of the thermal regime of the Kaunas Reservoir are direct thermal stratification during the warm period of a year, homothermy in September - October, and slight inverse stratification in the cold period (November - March) of a year. Reservoir water of such thermal stratification flowing into tailwater changed previous natural thermal regime of the river. The dynamics of the natural and changed water temperature regime of the Kaunas HPP Reservoir was evaluated using different statistic methods in 120 km long section of the Nemunas River, and the Stjudent test showed that obtained changes are statistically significant Expeditionary data have showed that the biggest daily temperature changes occur in the Kaunas HPP on the Neris river and the Nemunas River confluence section.
