- Authors
Parsons, Seth A.; Ward, Allison E.
- Abstract
The article discusses the use of authentic tasks when teaching content reading. The importance of content reading in education is considered and it is noted that authentic tasks, which are part of a constructivist approach to education, are intended to show students the usefulness of the content they are learning and it also helps to motivate them. Consideration is given to the role of teachers in designing authentic tasks and the importance of being "thoughtfully adaptive."
