- Abstract
An essay is presented exploring the influence of the Southern American writer William Faulkner on the works of the author and poet James Dickey. Details are given examining the extent to which Faulkner influenced all Southern writing in the generation following his work. Specific cases of influence between Faulkner and Dickey are discussed. Comments are also given focusing on the theme of sadism within Dickey's works.
