- Abstract
The author discusses the influence of the ancient Greek philosophy of Pyrrhonian skepticism on the 17th century philosophical book "Artis Logicae Plenior Instituto ad Petri Rami Methodo Concinnata" by English author John Milton, focusing on his interpretation of procatarctica, or external cause. Early modern English philosophy and instances of term in the writings of philosophers such as Bartholomew Keckermann are discussed. Greek philosopher Galen, French philosopher Petrus Ramus, and ancient philosopher Sextus Empiricus are also mentioned.
