- Authors
Nace, Nicholas D.
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novels "Clarissa" and "Pamela," by Samuel Richardson is presented. Particular attention is given to the history of the skull anecdote in these books. The author explores the theme of the similarity between the skull of a king and that of a poor man in "Pamela." The popularity of references to King Philip's skull in the literature of the 1740s is also discussed.
