- Abstract
This work is about the study of the influence of nitrogen deposition on soil fauna populations, and specifically Collembola, in several experimental plots in a typical Mediterranean ecosystem. The exact location is El Regajal-Mar de Ontígola Natural Park, situated in the south of Madrid. The nitrogen deposition, that simulates the use of a fertilizer, follows this concentration gradient: 0 (control plot), 10, 20, 50 Kg N ha-1 year-1. Different alpha biological diversity indices and statistical analyses were calculated to determine the relationships between species and the concentration of nitrogen added to the soil. The results obtained show an increase in diversity in the plots treated with an intermediate concentration of nitrates, higher than that measured in the control plots. It is also an objective of the work to demonstrate the presence of a community of springtail species characteristic of these types of soils.
