- Abstract
The article reports on cadmium accumulation and its phytotoxicity in "potamogeton pectinatus L." Cadmium, a heavy metal, is a wide spread metal, released into environment by power stations, heating systems, metal working industries, waste incinerators, urban traffic, cement factories and as a by product of phosphate fertilizers. Cadmium in water bodies originates from natural as well as from anthropogenic sources. Phytotoxicity of cadmium on some physiological and biochemical parameters of P. pectinatus were also studied and results are presented in this paper.
