- Abstract
Nosological classifications have allowed throughout history to generate a common language among mental health professionals. The two most important and recognized classifications are the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Both manuals have presented differences and similarities that have caused controversy. The present work aims to carry out a conceptual analysis of neurodevelopmental disorders in the latest versions of these classifications, the DSM-5 and, the ICD-11. The novelties are evident in both manuals. The review shows a harmonization between the two classifications, allowing to reduce in the future some errors in communication between professionals and the ambiguous naming of diagnostic categories.
